In this study, the dolomites of the Dezu Series (Infra-Cambrian) in the Sangestan Mountain section located in southwest Meybod have been examined based on petrography and elemental geochemistry. The thickness of this section is 75 meters and is lithologically composed of thin to medium-layered dolomites, dolomitic limestones, and thin to medium-layered limestones in dark gray and dark brown colors. A total of 20 samples were collected from this section for elemental analysis using the EDS method. Four groups of dolomites were identified, including dolomicrites (between 4 to 14 microns), dolomicrosparites (between 14 to 64 microns), dolosparites (between 64 to 250 microns), and very coarse-grained and extremely coarse-grained hilly dolomites (over 250 microns and in sizes of several millimeters). The very coarse-grained iron-bearing hilly dolomites, with an average of 1185 ppm iron, represent the latest generation of dolomites formed in the Dezu Series. The dolomitization model of the Dezu Series deposits is attributed to a tidal, seepage, and then shallow to medium-depth and deep burial model. In the studied dolomites, the fine-grained dolomites show a high concentration of Sr and Na, along with a lower concentration of Fe and Mn, while the coarser-grained dolomites exhibit a high concentration of Fe and Mn and a lower concentration of Sr and Na. The studied dolomites have reached equilibrium in terms of crystal arrangement (stoichiometry), with an average Ca/Mg ratio of 1.74. This can be justified considering the age of the Dezu Series deposits (Infra-Cambrian) in Central Iran.
